MTG's Mix Tape (Destress)

As I mentioned in my last post MTG made me a mix CD, stuff to destress to. I finally got around to hearing it this weekend. And as per requested (by Beth) here is the track listing. It didn't come with one so I had to find out a few.

1. Find You're Here - Wolfsheim
I've never heard this song before, but it's really good, must research on Itunes.

2. Secret - Madonna
Bedtime Stories!! Remember that Madonna album? I still have it on record. But I must say the main thing I remember was the video for "Take a Bow". Where she's rolling under the bedsheets. Grrrrowwwlll... :)

3. Son of a Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield
Dusty!! My second favorite song of her's, the first being Dusty's cover of "Ooh Child"

4. Surf Rider - The Lively Ones
I couldn't remember where I heard this. Then it hit me, Pulp Fiction, at the very end when Jules and Vincent walk out of the cafe. I wonder if she knows this, I doubt she's even seen the movie.

5. He Can Only Hold Her - Amy Winehouse
Amy Winehouse (Sigh***) I don't know why but I just love her. She's going to be playing at Austin City Limits in Sept. I checked on getting tickets to the Saturday shows (she plays Sat.)and the 3 day passes are already sold out. Nooooo!!!!!

6. As the Rush Comes - Motorcycle Boy
Gabriel and Dresden I love those guys, this is before they mixed just under their names. If you haven't heard it check it out, its an awesome chill out song.

7. Satellite (radio edit) - Oceanlab
This one isn't hard to find on mix CD's but it's never been released on CD singles. How she got this version I dunno. I'll have to ask, the only single version I have is on vinyl.

8. Wonder - Natalie Merchant
Everytime I hear Natalie or the 10,000 Maniacs I can't help but think of my cousin. He was a Natalie Merchant freak. He had a wall sized poster of Natalie from the Rolling Stone cover she did way back when. Literally it took up half a wall, I kid you not.

9. La-La (Means I Love You) - The Delfonics
Ohhh..I love the Delfonics. They can make anybody melt.

10. Sand in My Shoes - Dido
I like Dido so I guess that's why it's on here. Good song too.

11. Gabriel (Nelle Hooper Mix) - Lamb
I love this version of Gabriel. Lou Rhodes provides a haunting but calming effect with her vocals. Listen if you never have.

12. Jump (For My Love) - Pointer Sisters
I love this song. Makes me want to boogie, like Huge Grant on Love Actually.

13. Maybe I'm Amazed - Wings
I can't help think of the flying pig on the Simpsons.

14. Just Be Me - Kristy Hawkshaw
Very nice, good chillout song.

15. Malaguena Salerose - Chingon
Dir. Robert Rodriguez's band. These guys are awesome. I'm dying to see them in concert. And just announced, their album is supposed to be available everywhere as of last month. Good thing payday is Friday. Best Buy here I come.

MTG knows how to put together a mix CD, doesn't she? Love her taste in tunes!

But, omigod, how have I lived this long without ever hearing Ms. Springfield's cover of "Ooh Child"? I thought I had a great Dusty collection. I'll swap you a "Son of a Preacher Man" cover 1 Joan Osborne (live) or Bobbie Gentry (of course).
